CaptionAndrew Gregg Curtin was governor of Pennsylvania from January 1861 until January 1867. A native of Centre County, he was born in Bellefonte on April 22, 1817. He was Pennsylvania's great Civil War statesman and Abraham Lincoln's right-hand man. At the dedication of the National Cemetery at the Gettysburg battlefield, Governor Curtin was the host for the state and national figures on hand. This lithograph of Governor Curtin was drawn from a photograph by Charles Cohill, a portrait painter who lived in Philadelphia.
